Spontaneity!!
Spontaneous is an adjective that means seeming to occur through self-generation, by one's own means, or in a way requiring no outside influence or help. The noun form, spontaneity, refers to the quality of being spontaneous. This is of course the dictionary definition of Spontaneity. However, the question is, “What does Spontaneity mean to each individual?”
Is it an action that is self generated? Or occurring by one’s own means? Or in a way that requires no outside influence or help? Or is it all of the above. I guess for most, spontaneous is more of a “spur of the moment” act rather than something which strictly sticks to the above definition. Or is it something different?
Is it imperative for the outcome of a spontaneous act to be positive? Or does a negative outcome signal a spontaneous act turned stupid? Deciding to bike it down to Mahabaleshwar from Pune at 2 am in the morning and setting out immediately according to me is spontaneous. However, in case something goes wrong such as your bike breaks down or you encounter some angry villagers on the way then the same spontaneous act turns stupid.
Spontaneity of course ensures that life is full of excitement for those who love it and anxiety for those who hate it. Though, I seriously doubt that there would be anyone who would hate spontaneity and still try to be spontaneous. I feel spontaneity can’t be acquired or practiced. It needs to be inborn more like an innate personal trait. Yes, there might be some people who due to some reason, be it peer pressure or a inferiority complex, try to be spontaneous just to fit in. However as I mentioned earlier, since this is an inborn personality trait, it would be difficult to keep the act on since its not their natural tendency to behave in that way.
