Deals may come and deals may go... But life comes only once
From the time I heard these words today morning... they have just been ringing in my ears.
Which makes me think.... Is money more precious than life??
For me its an emphatic no.... but sometimes when I look around me at the multitudes trying to mindlessly hoard up wealth at any cost, it brings me back to the same question.
The title for today's blog comes from what our boss had to say when he was addressing us today. He was narrating an incident which happened recently and thats when he heard the very same words.
The terror strikes have achieved exactly what was intended. Embed a fear... fear of the unknown in each one of us. Because deep down, each of us knows how easily it could have been one of us who might have been a victim in Mumbai.
I used to think that the only thing which is constant in this world is Change.... however I have proved wrong... I think the only thing which is constant in the world in "UNCERTAINTY". Those who are close to me, would know exactly what I am talking about and what is that one incident which has provoked me to write this post.
Can you imagine... Chandel dropped me home early and when I was about to book my flight tickets to home, he calls and says that one of our colleagues has been assaulted by some unidentified assailants... need I elaborate now. The man was brave enough to ride to the nearest hospital and the doc said that he was out of danger but this could have so easily turned out for the worse... With God's Grace he is safe. But where is the certainty in life? Where is the guarantee when I leave home for work, that I will be back in the evening?
We talk about all the progress we have made in our culture and in economic terms as well, however that animal instinct of harming another individual whom we feel has wronged us, just doesnt go.
So I leave you with a question.
Are we any better than the cavemen who lived in the pre-historic era, or is it still a question about the survival of the fittest?
Till then!

Leave that aside, I guess regardless of place or race; man will always be a violent species, we need not wait for global warming to claim our lives. Man is one race where it can cause its own destruction quite easily.
Yes you do have a very valid and striking point when it comes to uncertainty. None of us can be certain of what would happen to each and everyone of us especially in today's scenario where unforeseen incidents (Mumbai) are becoming a banal activity or even like the incident you have elucidated about your friend at work.
Just like how kids wait for the tide to arrive so that they may jump over it, that is what we are always .. We do not know if the tide is going to be a huge one, but we keep preparing our minds on tackling it, so we just move on :)
